Hartlaub
Maxine L. Hartlaub, 56, Gettysburg, died Monday, April 2, 2007 at the York
Hospital.
Born Nov. 23, 1950 in Gettysburg, she was the
daughter of Anna J. (Wetzel) Bucher of Gettysburg and the late Joseph
Hess.
Mrs. Hartlaub was a member of St. Francis
Xavier Catholic Church in Gettysburg, where she was a church greeter and former
CCD teacher and Parish Council member. She was a 1972 graduate of Shippensburg
University, with a BS in education and earned her Master’s Degree in 1982 from
Shippensburg University. Mrs. Hartlaub was a teacher with the Upper Adams School
District for the past 26 years, and previously had taught at St. Francis Xavier
School in Gettysburg for four years. She was a licensed battlefield guide and
was a member of the Association of Licensed Battlefield Guidesfor 15 years. Other
memberships included Adams County Historical Society, PSEA, a life member of the
Gettysburg Civil War Round Table, and Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority for Women in
Education. While at Shippensburg University, she belonged to the Lambda Tau
Sorority.
Surviving are her husband, Randy L. Hartlaub;
mother and step-father, Anna J. and Paul Bucher of Gettysburg; two sons, Eric A.
Hartlaub and his wife Martha of Frederick, Md. and Brian T. Hartlaub and his
wife Megan of Nazareth; four grandchildren, Emma, Luke, Mason and Margaret
Hartlaub; four sisters, Susan Selawski of Edison, N.J., Debborah Hovis of
Blacksburg, Va., Gail Groh of Biglerville, and Joan Valentin of Willow Street;
and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on
Monday, April 9 at 11 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Gettysburg,
with Father Bernardo Pistone celebrant. Interment will be in St. Francis
Cemetery in Gettysburg. A viewing will be held on Monday, from 9 to 11 a.m. at
the church. The Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg is handling the funeral
arrangements.
