"Beyond Jomini: Military Theory in the Civil War North"

Many students of the Civil War recognize the name of Swiss military theorist Antoine Henry Jomini, who once served on the staff of Napoleon Bonaparte. Indeed, as a general in the U.S. Marine Corps once asserted, Civil War generals entered into the conflict of 1861-1865 with a sword in one hand and a copy of Jomini's The Art of War in the other. But just how relevant was Jomini to the American Civil War. Join us and find out!
