August 26, 2014: "Barksdale's Mississippians at the Peach Orchard"

Confederate General William Barksdale’s brigade will lose almost half their men in the fighting on July 2, 1863.  These brave Mississippians will advance nearly a mile, fighting with parts of four Union brigades.  Join Phil Muskett as we walk this hallowed ground and study the actions of these brave men.  We will meet at the Mississippi state monument on West Confederate Ave.    We will walk to the Peach Orchard and then to the Codori Thicket.     Bring water and wear proper shoes.  We will be walking on pavement and through fields for a distance of almost two miles.
